Sunday School Outing 1887
Waggon and Cart outside the Hall

Vincent's residence.   Lady St Vincent, in the absence of his Lordship, received the children verykindly, and was delighted with the music and the singing of the following hymns:- "We Love the Sunday School", "The Festival Day" , "Who will Gather the Grain", "Gather Sunbeams" and "Firmly Stand". Then the collection box went round.   Lady St Vincent responded very handsomely with a sovereign for the school funds, and the servants gave liberally.   The following note accompanied her Ladyship's donation: "Lady St Vincent encloses a sovereign for the Norton Disney Sunday School".   Three hearty cheers having been given for Lord and Lady St Vincent, the party visited the vicarage, where the Rev. M. Roberts responded liberally to the call for help.   They then returned to Mr. Carter's barn, where the children and friends partook of an excellent tea.   The meeting in the evening was presided over by Mr. E. Willows, and the speakers were Mr. R Lynn, of Norton, and Mr. B. Dixon and Mr. W. Smith, of North Scarle.   As there has been no event of this kind for seven years, the teachers heartily thank all kind friends from Bassingham, Carlton-le-Moorland, Norton and Stapleford for so kindly coming forward to help the school.

The Wesleyan Sunday School anniversary was held on Sunday and Monday, August 7th. And 8th.   On Sunday afternoon the children recited pieces and gave dialogues in an excellent manner.   The children and their parents were addressed by Mr. E. Willows, of Lincoln, who preached a sermon in the evening to a very good congregation.   On Monday afternoon the children, with their superintendents and teachers, met near the chapel, and were conveyed round the village in waggon and cart,  with a harmonium (over which Miss Carter presided), and, with Flags flying, marched up to Lord St
