DEATH OF LORD ST. VINCENT

A KESTEVEN MAGISTRATE

It was announced to-day, the 30th, of September 1908, the death in London, of Carnegie Robert Parker Jervis, the Fifth Viscount St. Vincent of Norton Disney Lincolnshire and Sutton-in-Derwant, Yorks.

The late peer was born on April 9th., 1865, and was the second son of the Third Viscount and Lucy, daughter of Baskervyle Glegg, of Withington Hall, Cheshire.   He received a commission in the 2nd. Battalion of the Berkshire Regiment and attained the rank of Captain.   He retired in 1885 on succeeding to the title, when his elder brother, John Edward Leverson Jervis, who had served in wars in South Africa, Afghanistan, and Egypt, died of wounds received at the battle of Metammeh  (Abu Klea).

His Lordship, who was a Justice of the Peace for parts of Kesteven, Lincolnshire, married in 1885 Rebecca May, daughter of James Raston, of Barrow-in-Furness, but obtained a divorce from her in 1906.   He leaves no children.

The late Lord is succeeded by his brother, Major the Hon. Ronald Clarges Jervis, born in 1869.  He married in 1894, Marian Annie, daughter of Mr. James Brown, of Orchard Carluke.
