Following the death of the 4th. Viscount St Vincent, John Edward Leverson Jervis, who died in the Sudan wars at Abu Klea on the 22nd. January 1885, the officers of the 16th. Lancers, to which his Lordship was attached at the time, will shortly insert a new east-end window of stained glass in Norton Disney Church.   This work is being undertaken by Powell and sons, of London as requested in his Battlefield Codicil.

The Church, which abounds in monuments and other associations of historic value, is sadly out of repair, and it is with pleasure we hear that the present noble successor to the title, Carnegie Robert Parker-Jervis J.P. , the 5th. Viscount , intends to spend a considerable sum to improve the chancel, which belongs to him as lay rector.

We trust that the whole of the sacred edifice will be restored as to form a noble memorial to him in whose memory it was held so dear.
