Carol singing - January 9th. 1889

The advent of the new year was marked here by a number of the inhabitants singing hymns and carols round the village in the early hours of Tuesday and then again in the evening.   The songsters called in due course at the Hall, and were there heartily welcomed and kindly treated to a good supper by Lord and Lady St Vincent.   It was enjoyed by all, and the recipients wish, to return Lord and Lady St Vincent their sincere thanks for their kindness in the above way, and also for their subscription to the funds.   Host and Hostess Trustin, on Saturday evening also provided a supper for the singers, set out in a tempting manner, and thoroughly enjoyed.   All wish to thank the Host and Hostess.
